Shop Local: 2011 Campaign

Did you know?  For every $100 spent in a local business $68 of it stays in community!

 

Goals of the Shop Local Program:

· Raise residents’ awareness of the benefits of shop local

· Increase traffic to local businesses

· Reward shoppers who shop locally

 

Timeframe:

· Sept 15th: All local programs ready to be included in the Asbury Park Press, Tri-Town News, Howell Times and other venues

· Oct 15th: Promotion campaign begins (radio, newspaper, e-mail blasts, newsletters, and social media outlets)

· Nov 25th (Black Friday) through Dec 31st: Shopping window

 

Terms:

· All Howell businesses (Howell Chamber of Commerce members and non-members) and Howell Chamber of Commerce members (outside Howell area) are invited to participate

·  Winners chosen by VARIETY of receipts NOT by the dollar amount spent

· Receipts must be mailed or delivered to the Howell Chamber of Commerce no later than Jan 7, 2012

 

Prizes:

· 1st prize: $750 value of gift cards and services provided by local businesses

· 2nd prize: $250 value of gift cards and services (local businesses)

· 3rd prize: $100 value of gift cards and services (local businesses)

Chamber 31st Annual Dinner Dance.

The Howell Chamber will celebrate our 31st annual dinner dance on Friday, October 28, 2011 at The Eagle Oaks Country Club in Farmingdale NJ. Honorees are Tommy Campagna-Lifetime Achievement, Howell Township Education Foundation-Service Organization of the Year, Volunteer of the Year-Jim Godfrey, Business of the Year-Lakewood Funeral Home, Citizen of the Year-John Stefani and Good Corporate Neighbor-Walmart-Howell.
Tickets to the event are $85.00 per person and include 1 hour open bar, cocktail hour, dinner, entertainment, awards ceremony and silent auction.

2nd Annual Golf Outing with the PAL

Thank you to our friends at the PAL, sponsors, golfers and The Battleground Country Club for contributing to the success of our 2nd annual golf outing.
A special thank you to Co chairs Jim Godfrey, Tom Comer and their committee for sharing their time, energy and talents with us. With out them, this would not have been possible.

Bowl a thon

The chamber held its 6th annual bowl a thon last night with our members, family and friends filling 32 lanes.
We enjoyed the sampling of foods provided by our food members Applebees, Big City Bagels, Chick-fil-a, Jersey Mikes and Pan

era Bread.
We raffled off prizes and awards were presented to the win ners.
Our 50/50 brought in $190.00 for our education foundation.
A big thank you to committee chair  Gene Ann Pesano and Tommy Campagna providing us with such a fun night.

New Ribbon Cutting

A ribbon cutting was held on Wednesday, June 23 at Skillenders Service Center, Rt 9 S in the K-Mart auto area. Owner, Jackie Skillender recently relocated her business from the Gulf station on the corner of Rt 9 North and Aldrich Rd to the new K-Mart location. There to welcome Jackie and her staff were Mayor Robert Walsh, Chamber President Ken French, chamber members, family and friends.
