Howell has the largest elementary school system in the County. Residents benefit from a top-rated school system. Children attend either one of the ten elementary schools, one of three middle schools, or the Freehold Regional High School District.

The Howell Board of Education services elementary children and is comprised of nine elected members and a President selected from that body.

The Freehold Regional Board of Education services the older children with two elected members to represent Howell's interest. The Regional System services Howell, Freehold Township, Freehold Borough, Farmingdale, Marlboro, Manalapan and Colts Neck. In addition to serving the regional needs of each individual school's geographic area, each school also services specialty curriculums, such as science and math. Howell's specialties are in the performing arts and Humanities programs; therefore not only Howell residents but also regional wide students with an interest in arts or humanities attend Howell High School.

Elementary school students served by Howell Township School District Kindergarten cut-offs are October 1. According to Board policy every child must be immunized against D.P.T., polio, regular measles, mumps, rubella, and T.B.
